Crabtree Falls is a very nice campground for off the grid camping. We spent a few days there and really enjoyed it. The campsites are located directly on the water and provides spectacular views all day long. It’s quiet and peaceful and has zero cell coverage just what we were looking for, the store has firewood and ice at a reasonable price and the manager AJ is a very friendly person. We will definitely be coming back.

Campsite was good. Bathrooms are somewhat clean. Would have liked them cleaned more often. On our weekend, there were tons of kids running around all day and well into the night. Flashlights shining in our eyes while sitting at the campfire. Teenagers up late at night, walking back-and-forth with bright lanterns at 2am. Location is great. Loved the river. The store has firewood and bags of ice.

Great campground. All the other campers around us were quiet. That was huge because we always seem to run into loud party people. But not here. The view from the cabin is as advertised, beautiful. You hear the river all night, so peaceful. The owner is so nice. Inside the cabin is great too. Nice bathroom with showers. There is no cell service but there is WiFi at the camp store which is a 2 minute walk from the cabin. The only thing I recommend is coming in route 56 from the east. Coming from the west is a wild hill ride.

Great place to bring the kids. Small RVs, tent sites, and cabins available. Veteran discount if you ask. I will say there is a lot of maintenance and work that needs done here compared to other similarly priced places such as: leaking spigots next to electric boxes, electric boxes covers falling off, trash bins, wood structures of playground. However, people are great! These are newer owners and they care and are lovely. You really can't beat the location, less than .5 miles to Crabtree falls. Close to all sorts of outdoor activities, plus you don't even need to leave the campground to play in the water. Abundant wildlife, quiet campground, good people. We will come back!

We went there on a whim to stay at the camp site not knowing they had cabins. When we were getting checked in inquired about changing to cabin and was only about thirty dollars more. It was worth it, we were right in front the river. While I was cooking over the fire pit my two boys were able to play in the river, which they loved. We can't wait to go back. Thank you Crabtree falls campground for letting us stay

What a wonderful little slice of heaven! I called and made a reservation for a tent site 2 days before our arrival. We were camping elsewhere the night before our reservation and got caught in a horrible thunderstorm. We planned on staying here so that we could hike the falls the next morning but the weather report was calling for thunderstorms with hail and high winds so we called and left a message on the day of our reservation to cancel. Sue called us back to take payment (during that time we waited for a call back we moved a few things around and decided to try again the next week) and we asked if we could just switch our reservation date to about 5 days later. She was more than accommodating and friendly about it. When we arrived at our site on Wednesday there was a note about being out to lunch so we took our paper and found our site and went exploring. As it is the off season the campground was empty! Yay for us! We checked out a cabin and loved it. When we went back to the office to pay we asked if we could upgrade from a tent site to a cabin and Sue, again, was so friendly and accommodating! We moved into a cabin for the night and LOVED it! We had an easy path to the river, a great view and a clean cabin. Then it started to rain hard and we were so grateful to have upgraded to a cabin. Sleeping to the sound of the rain and the rushing river was just so delightful! I highly recommend this campground to tent campers and small RVs and trailers. I do not think this campground would be easy to get to for larger rigs. As we are off-season campers this site might also be crowded during the busy season so think about that for yourself. This is definitely a place we will go back to during the off season again! Bonus! NO cell service for AT&T, Verizon or Metro and NO INTERNET!! WOOT WOOT!!

Had a great experience with this campsite from initial phone call with Sue who was friendly and helpful. Campsite property is small and cozy, very nicely laid out. Right along the Tye River. Campsites are spacious and nicely designed. Loved meeting the resident cat. Perfect pairing with our hiking weekend.

Update July 2023: AJ the new owner of this property is awesome! He's very accommodating and always thinking about his guests. One night the bathrooms got a little dirty we mentioned it to him he was out there getting clean within a matter of minutes! We love this place! It's truly a natural treasurer of Virginia! Previous Review: This place is wonderful! My brother and I spent 3 days and 2 nights in the cabins on the stream! It was magical. Not a lot of frills, but that's not what we were looking for. If you are looking for a place to disconnect from the "grind" and enjoy the surreal beauty of nature, you must go! The cabins are practically on the river! There's also a little natural "pool" right on the property! Both the owners (under a new ownership transition) were amazing and so hospitable. Loved this getaway!
